Wayne County Death Records at Town Clerks
Death certificates in Wayne County are issued by the town clerk where the death happened. The Town of Lyons is one example. Hours are Monday through Thursday 8 AM to 4 PM, and Friday 8 AM to 2 PM.
The Town of Lyons clerk provides copies of birth, death, and marriage certificates, along with dog licenses, hunting and fishing licenses, notary services by appointment, and FOIA requests. The standard fee for a death certificate is $10 per certified copy across all Wayne County towns. Birth and marriage certificates are also $10. Marriage licenses cost $40.
You need a government-issued photo ID to get a death certificate. A driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID all work. Only the spouse, parent, child, or sibling of the deceased can get a certified copy. Others must prove a lawful claim or need.
